If you sent money to the wrong person or to the wrong number, what can you do?
Orange:
If you made a mistake with the recipient’s phone number unfortunately there is nothing we can do as the funds cannot be reversed. The name should not be that much of a problem as long as the phone number is correct.
It is important to always double-check before sending your transfer to make sure the details are accurate. Taptap Send allows editing everything until the very last step for that reason.
Wave:
Please always double-check every transaction detail before you send money. We make it easy for you to edit any transfer details before the final payment confirmation step.

Orange Mali
Please find below some useful information to help your recipient cash out the money:

Make sure your recipient has registered their Orange wallet. The registration is free and it can be done at any Orange money branch in Mali. It will allow your recipient’s number to be linked to a mobile wallet.

Your recipient can either deposit or withdraw the money. They can also purchase Orange telephone credit, internet packages and Séwa fordaits. Alternatively, they can use the funds to pay their bills.

For further assistance, your recipient can contact Orange on Whatsapp at the number +223 90 111010, or contact them on Twitter, or Facebook. Alternatively, your recipient can contact the Customer Service dedicated to Orange Money 7/7 by calling 37070.

Wave

- Your recipient needs to undergo a verification process with Wave to be able to access the funds

Once your recipient receives the notification that they have received the transfer, they need to go to a Wave Agent with their ID to access the funds. They can also upload their ID directly from the Wave app.

Your recipient will see the transaction as “pending” in their transaction history, with a message prompting them to go to a Wave Agent.

- If your recipient does not have a Wave account, they will receive an SMS with a code and the same instructions to visit a Wave Agent.
