Can I use my Taptap Send Card when I travel?
Yes! Taptap Send Card can be used to make purchases around the globe.* And even better, there are no foreign transaction fees for using your Taptap Send Card! Simply load your wallet in GBP or EUR or another currency and start spending. If the currency of your purchase is different from the currency you’ve saved in your Taptap Wallet(s), we’ll handle the conversion for you using the FX rate at the time of your transaction.
*with the exception of the countries listed on the OFAC sanction list.
I have multiple Taptap Send Wallets, which of my wallets funds my Taptap Send Card?
All of them! Your Taptap Send Card pulls intelligently from all of your Taptap Send Wallet(s). We’ll first use any funds you have in the currency of your purchase to avoid unnecessary FX rates. If that wallet balance isn’t enough, we’ll then convert funds from your other Taptap Wallet(s) to complete the purchase.
For example:
- If your purchase is in GBP and you have a balance in your GBP wallet, we’ll use those funds.
- If you’ve saved up in your PHP wallet for your next trip home, once you get there, you’ll pay in PHP using your PHP wallet so you don’t have to worry about the rate.
- If the balance in a single currency wallet isn’t enough for your purchase, we will convert funds from your other Wallet balance(s) to complete the card payment, using Taptap Send rates* at the time of your card transaction and no added fees. Don’t worry, we’ll never convert more than you need, and we work hard to get you the best rates we can.
*Where Taptap Send rates are not available, Visa FX rates will be used.
What exchange rate does the Taptap Send Card use?
When available, we use the same Taptap Send rate available to you for money transfers in our app! Sometimes, you may make a purchase in currency that we do not offer remittances to. For those transactions, we’ll give you Visa’s latest exchange rate, with no added fees.
You will be able to see the exchange rate we use for your purchase on the transaction summary screen by tapping on the transaction within the Card Activity tab in the app.
Note that it is common for midmarket FX rates to differ slightly depending on the direction of the rate.
For example, typically the rate for PKR to GBP will be slightly higher than rate for GBP to PKR. Don’t worry, we always do our best to get you the best rate possible!
