The way your recipient receives their money depends on the delivery method available in their country. Here is how each one works.
Mobile money
If your recipient's country supports mobile money, the funds go directly to their mobile money wallet. In most cases, your recipient doesn't need to do anything, the money arrives automatically once the transfer is processed.
However, some mobile money providers require recipients to verify their identity or share documentation before they can receive funds or increase their wallet limits. If your recipient hasn't done this yet, they may need to complete a quick registration or verification step with their provider first.
Always double-check the mobile money number when setting up your recipient. If the number is wrong, the transfer may go to the wrong person or fail.
Bank transfer
If bank transfer is available in your recipient's country, the funds are sent directly to their bank account. Your recipient does not need to do anything. Transfer times depend on the country and the recipient's bank.
Always double-check the bank account number when setting up your recipient. If the number is wrong, the transfer may go to the wrong person or fail. Refunds are very hard to get for bank transfers.
Cash pickup
If cash pickup is available in your recipient's country, they will need to visit a partner agency to collect the money in person. They will need to bring:
- A valid government-issued ID
- The transfer reference number received via WhatsApp or SMS (also available in the app under the transaction details)
Your recipient should collect the money as soon as possible. Some cash pickup locations have a limited collection window. If some agents do not have the cash available, we recommend trying in a different agency.
Home delivery
If home delivery is available in your recipient's country, a courier will bring the cash directly to the recipient’s address you provided. Your recipient will need to be available at that address and have ready:
- A valid government-issued ID
- Their PIN code
Make sure the delivery address is correct before you send the transfer and that your recipient is at home to receive the funds.
